The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
The first season presents a diverse group of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans make a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
